Lunchtimes@ Ōtaki School
We offer many options at lunch time! We have a bikes in school, a play pod, scooter and skating area, a native bush for students to climb and build as well as having a range of P.E equipment for students to play with.
At Te Kura o Ōtaki our tamariki care for each other. Our tuakana and teina relationships are visible in lots of what we do. Here our our tuakana looking out for our teina in the playground at breaktimes.

Bikes in School
Bikes in schools is a initiative to increase health, fitness, skills, safety, confidence and self-esteem. Our bikes are used daily at lunchtimes by students and as part of our PE and fitness programmes. Our tuakana students are our bike monitors and are trained to support students to find the right bike and helmet for their size.
Play Pod
Our students love creative play! We have a play pod that has a huge range of scrap materials such as cardboard tubes, tyres, lengths of material, netting, ropes, crates and bins which extends the choices and possibilities of play for all children on a regular basis. The unprescriptive nature of these loose parts in combination with children’s inventiveness and creativity results in them using the items in endless different ways, enabling all ages, genders and abilities to find ways to play and socialise together.
